These earrings belong to a group of new pieces in the HDPE/HOPE series which re-uses HDPE plastic from single-use milk bottles.

The pieces in this series seek to question our perception of beauty and its associations to materials such as gold and silver. They draw attention to the value made between precious resources such as gold & silver and ‘single-use’ every-day items that are discarded and end in landfill, even though they are also made with a precious resource - oil. The pieces therefore aim to elevate this material plastic from waste to elegance.

The earrings are made from recycled sterling silver, which is textured and press-formed to achieve the beautifully elegant curved shape.

The HDPE discs are textured and layered, and secured to the silver by three tiny micro rivets.
