Measuring Your Bracelet, Bangle or Cuff Size

Please use the guides below to help you determine your correct wrist size for either bracelets, bangles or cuffs.

Bracelets

Bracelets are flexible, chain-like pieces pieces of jewellery worn around the wrist and secured with a clasp.

As they have clasps, they do not need to go over the whole hand when putting them on. We therefore need to measure the wrist for size.

How to Measure Your Bracelet Size:

Please follow the steps below to measure your bracelet size without a bracelet sizer:

Note: this method measures the circumference of the bracelet, not the diameter and also includes the clasp.

  1. Measure around the wrist at the wrist bone. Choose a place where you would normally wear a bracelet. To take the measurement, use a bracelet gauge, a ribbon measuring tape or a strip of paper and a ruler.

  2. Using a strip of paper, wrap it around your wrist and mark where the end overlaps with the beginning.

  3. Then, measure the length of the paper strip with a ruler and note it down.

  4. As each person prefers a different bracelet fit, we need to add an additional length for the desired fit. Please follow the guide below to determine your optimal length.

    • Add between 0.6 - 1.3 cm for a snug fit.

    • Add between 2 - 2.5 cm for a comfortable fit.

    • Add between 2.5 - 3 cm for a loose fit.

CUFFS

Cuffs differ from bracelets as they are made from a solid piece of metal. Unlike bangles, they are not closed but have a gap, which is used to slide the cuff onto the wrist. This gap usually measures 1” (25 mm) and the cuff is slid on the wrist sideways.

As cuffs do not need to go over the whole hand, we measure the cuff size as we did above for a bracelet.

BANGLES

Bangles are made from a solid piece of metal and form a complete circle. To wear them, they have to be slid over the whole hand and knuckles. Because of this we have to measure the size differently to bracelets and cuffs.

How to Measure Bangles:

  1. Because bangles have to fit over the hand and knuckles, we have to measure the size around fist and knuckles of your hand.

  2. Bring the thumb and small finger of your hand together and hold your hand as if you were to slide it through a bangle. Using a piece of paper, wrap it now around the widest part of your thumb knuckle and pass it over the other knuckles as well. Ask someone else for help if this is difficult to do.

  3. Mark the place where both ends overlap and then measure the length with a ruler and note down your measurement. This length corresponds to the inner circumference of the bangle.
